Docs Directory Placement
Standard location
Section titled “Standard location”Starlight’s docsLoader() reads Markdown and MDX from
src/content/docs/. Unlike a configurable glob loader, its standard content
root is fixed. Custom Astro collections and src/pages/ routes offer broader
placement freedom, but then the project must integrate that content with
Starlight’s layout and navigation itself.
Can README replace index?
Section titled “Can README replace index?”No automatic README convention is documented or used here. Astro file-based
routing treats index.md or index.mdx as the directory route; a
README.md is a separate readme/ page. This sample therefore uses explicit
index.mdx files in both locales.
