Hands-on finding (subjective): Starlight required relatively little framework wiring for this feature set. One integration configuration and a content collection definition provide most theme behavior.

The bilingual GitHub Pages sample still adds several explicit pieces:

  • astro.config.mjs for base path, locales, Pagefind, math, and theme options
  • src/content.config.ts for the Starlight docs collection
  • mirrored src/content/docs/en/ and ja/ content trees
  • small Astro components for the counter and Mermaid
  • a static framework-root locale redirect

Complexity grows when adding non-default Markdown syntax or overriding theme structure, but the baseline stays compact because search, i18n, sidebar, TOC, dark mode, and static rendering are integrated.
